The Journey to KC
Relocating to Kansas City, MO from my hometown of Wichita, KS in 2024 generated considerable anticipation. I had researched the area's resources, services, and the LGBTQIA+ community, hoping to find the supportive environment I needed.
However, reality hit differently. While numerous services existed, I personally experienced being excluded. I was informed that my income level disqualified me from assistance, yet I struggled to make my paychecks cover my expenses.
The Turning Point "I concluded that I could not be the only person facing these difficulties, and furthermore, that I should not be alone in seeking empowerment."
I sought assistance through therapy, self-help literature, and free public services, gradually acquiring necessary information. But the process was discouraging. I became determined to find and support others who were experiencing similar struggles.
The Vision
After significant deliberation, drafting, and time investment, The Ignite and Thrive KC Foundation is progressing toward its formal establishment. My vision for change and impact is substantial and achievable with the commitment of the right individuals.
